With an extremely active muse, a surplus of passion, and a resolute drive to achieve, Holly proudly embraces the title of creative multi-hyphenate. Having established an award-winning advertising and design firm, as well as enjoyed a lifelong performance and directing career on both the musical and theatrical stage, Holly is blessed to be able to embrace multiple aspects of her creativity, leadership, and communication skills.
Holly has a BFA from the University of Texas at Arlington in graphic design (with a minor in vocal music) and worked in several top agencies prior to establishing Reed Creative Group in 2005. As creative director, she enjoys serving a variety of industries and clientele both regionally and nationally.
Holly began performing (voice, piano, dance, and theater) at a very young age and currently enjoys various opportunities for each. Various credits include Nancy/Oliver, Ms. Teevee/Willy Wonka , Miss Minchin/The Little Princess, Mother/Peter Pan, and the lead role of Corrie Ten Boom in the International Ballet Theatre’s regional premiere of The Weaving. Holly was honored to write, produce, and direct her first full length musical Kringle: Born to Believe in 2014 which she wrote (book and lyrics) along with her husband Kelvin (music). The couple have a few more musicals in development and look forward to creating future productions together.
Combining her design and theatre careers, Holly is privileged to be working with Carol de Giere, author of Defying Gravity: the Creative Career of Stephen Schwartz and Godspell: Inside a Transformative Musical, on marketing these two insightful books as well as developing a new project on the creation of the American musical, idea to stage. Stay tuned for that!
Holly is a Dallas/Ft. Worth associate theatre critic for The Column and is a member of ASCAP and the Dramatists Guild of America.
Carol de Giere
Carol de Giere is the author of two books that provide behind-the-scenes stories on popular musicals. The first book, Defying Gravity: the Creative Career of Stephen Schwartz, from Godspell to Wicked, is a career biography that takes readers into the world of the award-winning composer-lyricist known for the musicals Wicked, Pippin, and other Broadway shows and films. The second book, The Godspell Experience: Inside a Transformative Musical, records the history and song-by-song details for Godspell, and features a Foreword by Stephen Schwartz. Both books serve as historical records in addition to offering insights on the creative process for fans of musicals, working writers, and performers.
Carol “met” Stephen Schwartz by way of his website and conducted over eighty hours of interviews with him. Her questions focused on his creative process in order to discover some of the keys to his success. She began while he was in the middle of writing the score for Wicked, and was able to capture many stories about the ups and downs of the developmental process for Defying Gravity.
Ms. de Giere is also the founder and editor of several online newsletters. The Schwartz Scene, for which Mr. Schwartz sometimes writes updates about his projects and experiences, provides news and events for the several thousand fans who subscribe. Musical Writerzine provides resources and news for writers of new musicals.
A former librarian, Carol holds master’s degrees in library science and writing. She lives with her husband in Connecticut where they enjoy walking, reading, practicing yoga and meditation, and nature photography. They also have businesses in Connecticut and Wisconsin.
